Zero Waste Recipe: Cherry Almond Fudge Granola!

On the mission to become zero-wasted I started looking at all the packaging that I use in my daily life.

One of the first things that I looked at was my cherished morning granola sitting there in its shiny plastic package.

I started thinking about how I could make my own granola without the plastic and without the unnecessary ingredients.       

I was able to make an amazing substitute for my store bought, plastic-laden granola just with bulk ingredients that I already had in the pantry. This recipe is really forgiving and perfect for a first-time granola maker. Use it to top plant-based yogurt, smoothie bowls, or just eat it with your favorite plant-based milk!

Planet Protein Cherry Almond Fudge Granola


  • 3 cups Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • ½ cup Organic Diced Almonds
  • 2 tablespoons Ground Flax Seed
  • 2 Planet Protein Cherry Almond Fudge Bars, diced
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • ½ cup Organic Almond Butter (look for almonds as the only ingredient)
  • ½ cup Organic Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract


  • Preheat oven to 325°.

  • Combine the oats, almonds, flax seed, sea salt, and diced Planet Protein Cherry Almond Fudge bars in a large mixing bowl.

  • In a small saucepan, mix the almond butter and maple syrup until creamy and warm.

  • Pour the almond butter and maple syrup into the oat mixture and add the vanilla extract.

  • Stir until well combined so there are no dry oats.

  • Spread the mixture onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, stirring half way through.

  • Once the granola is out of the oven, let it cool completely, then break it apart and store in a reusable container!
